True to its heritage, the Impulse is a stacked tube marker, but this isn’t just a modification of the Classic, it is an all new marker with a more compact design, and numerous new features including:

* Pressure balanced poppet valve allowing 1700 to 1800 shots from a 4500 psi 68ci system
* Dual regulation allowing extremely low bolt force and eliminating kick
* Air buffered firing piston shoots smoother with less vibration
* Ultra-compact in-grip regulators reduce forward weight for improved balance
* Hose-free design eliminating common leak points
* Rechargeable lithium polymer battery powering the Impulse through approximately 100,000 shots per charge
* Hinged Vision eye covers open without tools for cleaning and aren’t easily lost because they stay attached to the marker
* Volume chamber fore-grip eliminates shoot-down
* Modular body design allowing for fast repairs and mix-and-match color styling
* Freak compatible barrel system accepts bore inserts for changing paint sizes
* Trigger based programming with modes for all major leagues and scenario use
* Q-Lock feedneck quickly clamps and adjusts to all high performance hoppers

"The keys to the new Impulse design are its valve and regulators." says Hans Semelsberger, Smart Parts’ Director of Technical Sales. "Most poppet valves are pushed closed by the air inside, so when the pressure is right for good efficiency, you have to hit them pretty hard to knock them open, and that shakes the gun, throwing off your aim. Our pressure balanced valve lets the air pressure push forward and backwards on the valve core at the same time. Those forces cancel each other out and the valve opens easily regardless of the pressure inside. It’s so soft, I can push it open with my little finger. Because the valve opens so easily, we are able to use two-stage regulation to drive the firing piston with very low pressure gas. That makes the Impulse gentle on paint, and lets it shoot without kick."

The new Impulse will be at PSP Chicago. I’ll be sure to get some pics the actual gun then.

Autonomous Turret Sentry Project

Here's your worst enemy ... or friend: a Paintball gun mounted on an Autonomous Turret Sentry. Its purpose... well, after watching the video above I hope you can see the capabilities of this... masterpiece. The Sentry Project was started in a garage by an avid backyard paintballer. After over a year of tedious revisions, it has developed through 9 prototypes and is the most evolved Autonomous Sentry on the web. The paintball sentry uses software that is specifically written for a custom servo controller, a device that sends commands to servos to aim and fire the paintball gun. The software was written by the designer to enable the turret to rapidly track, anticipate and engage multiple targets - and is very customizable.

If you've already had your eye on this project, you should know that recently more videos were released by its creator. They're all worth a watch, the creator updates his website and youtube page with videos all the time. It's very cool to see such an advanced paintball project unfold.

Cost
The designer claims that you can build one of these paintball sentrys for under $500. He sells software kits directly through his eBay store. The software kit is the most inexpensive solution for owning your own Automated Sentry. It is ideal for those of you who are mechanically inclined or have custom applications in mind. He plans to sell completed turrets in the future after he simplifies its construction

Are Paintball Sniper Guns point and shoot?

Are Paintball Sniper Guns point and shoot?. This can be reasonably effective at shorter ranges, but not at any distance. If you have or pick up a good rifled sniper barrel, then your aim starts to get much more accurate. With a decent sniper gun and rifled barrel, a scope does actually work. Think making a good clean shot at distances that would catch most players by surprisal. The more powerful your gun and better your barrel, the more high powered of a scope you can use, and the farther off you can pick off your opponents. Groupings within 3 inches at 60 feet are possible and more than enough to hit your mark.

Masks and goggles can get in the way of course when seeking to use a scope. There are some really good offset scopes and mounts available that help this problem considerably. An offset scope is just one that allows the scope to be off to the side of the gun, allowing you to aim without your mask getting in the way.

Special of the nicer guns also come with a red dot site for shorter targets and quick aiming as well a scope for lengthier distances. You can even get a laser pointer, and see where your shot is going to hit. Of course without a good rifled sniper gun or barrel, where you aim and where it goes will be erratic. If you want to do any real sniping, you definitely need the right equipment. Sniper Barrels are relatively cheap and you can get one to exchange the barrel on most existing guns. If you want to get a serious paintball sniper gun, there are some out there, like the T68 Extreme Sniper with 3-12x50 Scope Kit. This one even has magazine feed paintballs and a silencer.

The Marq Rapper

NEWS RELEASE
Review By Bryan Cardis

When i first picked up the Rapper i noticed right off the bat it was one of the lightest markers i have ever picked up. From top to bottom this gun looks amazing. The no rise wedge feed sits a total of about an inch and a half above the top of the gun for the lowest profile marker i have used. The regulator is set up for easy adjustment and very consistent velocity and the swivel-top makes for convenient placement of macro line fitting. The LPR is hidden in between the grip frame and body for a sleeker look. The LPR adjustment point is located between the grip frame and inline regulator.

The eye covers on either side of the marker are easy to get into for cleaning of the eyes and detents, the rapper comes standard with a 2eye anti chop system but is ready for the 4eye upgrade. With the four eye set up most people think that they have a second set in case one gets dirty, this is not true. The first set located at the top of the breach is more of a warning system, telling the board that the ball is on its way to the second set that is located at the bottom of the breach. For the most part i can tell that with 2 eyes i chopped when i was down to the last few shoots, The four eye upgrade took that eliminated that problem.

When you pick up a Marq the first thing you may think of is a spool valve marker like a Shocker, but when you open this thing up you will see that it works like a Timmy. The "inline poppet valve system" is just that, located in the back of the valve is the rammer that is a long stem that runs through the poppet and connects to the bolt. The solenoid is manifold mounted and there is only one hose that runs from the the ASA to the LPR.

I have to say that Bob long has designed another step in the evolution in Paintball with the Marq line of Paintball markers. The Marq Rapper with its unique milling and light weight body design makes this a marker that should be on the top of every ballers wish list.
