Dynasty Now Shooting with PE

Posted: 21 Jan 2010 01:42 PM PST

Planet Eclipse are thrilled to announce that Dynasty, the most prolific team in the history of paintball, have joined the Eclipse Family for the 2010 season and beyond. The agreement will see Dynasty, one of the most consistent performers in Professional Paintball in the past decade, using a mixture of arguably the most consistent performing markers; Eclipse Geos and Eclipse Egos, throughout the 2010 Season in their quest to remain the Worlds number one team. In 2010, Dynasty will be dominating the Professional Divisions of the NPPL and PSP in the US as well as representing Eclipse throughout Europe and the Rest of the World. Understandably excited, this is what both camps had to say about the news:

"What was already shaping up to be a good 2010 has just turned into a great 2010! We are delighted to be associated with Dynasty and their Worldwide presence on and off the field" -Ian "Jacko" Parsons, Planet Eclipse

"Eclipse have an outstanding presence in competitive paintball and we're honored to have them as our marker sponsor for 2010. Choosing Eclipse was simple as Egos and Geos are by far the most consistent and reliable markers available and teams using them have the best back up at events worldwide. We know that shooting Eclipse will give us that all important edge in 2010!" -Alex Fraige, Team Dynasty

2010 Unified National & Regional RaceTo Format

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 01:21 PM PST

January 15, 2010 – Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) is pleased to announce the creation of a network of affiliate regional tournament leagues that, along with the PSP, share the goal of introducing the “RaceTo” format to players throughout the country.

These affiliated leagues will work together to provide a consistent experience for players across leagues and divisions, as well as create a universal player ranking in conjunction with the APPA that fits both the regional and national levels. Over time, this system will provide a national ranking for teams at every level across the United States, allowing a player to compare his/her team to those playing in other leagues on the other side of the country. As this system grows, the ability to rank teams will extend to ranking individual players. For the first time, the sport will have a true national ranking for both categories, enabling players to measure themselves against competitors.

The affiliate leagues heading the 2010 Unified National and Regional RaceTo Format include:

Ryan Bosch, Arizona Paintball Players League (AZPPL), www.theazppl.com
Larry Motes, Carolina Field Owners Association (CFOA) Tournament Series, www.thecfoa.com
John Smith, Central Florida Paintball Series (CFPS), www.cfpsevents.com
Jeff Stein, New England Hurricanes
Lane Wright, Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP), www.pspevents.com
Carl & Karen Bortol and Greg Pauley, Vicious Series, www.pbnation.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531
Mike Hinman, West Coast Paintball Players League (WCPPL), www.wcppl.com

By partnering with these leagues and implementing player rankings, the sport of paintball will be unified from top to bottom, coast to coast. This network will continue to pursue expansion across the country with the ultimate goal of creating a more unified sport.

PSP Restricts Yellow for 2010 Season

Posted: 13 Jan 2010 10:00 PM PST

In previous seasons, players were not allowed to have orange on their equipment or apparel. This was referred to as a “protected” color, so teams knew that if they were shooting orange paint, it would not “blend into” the opponent’s equipment/gear. Orange paint fill is no longer allowed at PSP events (as well as pink and red) due to its staining nature. Therefore, beginning with the 2010 season, PSP will allow orange equipment/clothing and change the protected color to yellow.

As such, players may not wear or carry yellow clothing or equipment on the playing field, with the exception that yellow is allowed on clothing if no wider than 0.5 cm at any point, and no more than 10% of any 5cm by 5cm square. This allows teams to wear most sponsor logos on their jerseys, but prevents someone from stacking yellow stripes or dots together in the shoulders or other critical area. Clothing and equipment that interferes with a judge’s ability to officiate the game will remain prohibited.

In an effort to minimize the impact of this rule change on teams who currently have customized jerseys with yellow in excess of the new restrictions, teams may petition for a one-season exemption from new restrictions. To receive an exemption, the jersey must be a custom jersey and the team must submit a photo of the current jersey, the artwork used to print the jersey, and an invoice from the jersey manufacturer for the jersey dated on or after March 1, 2009. This information must be submitted by January 29, 2010 to tim@pspevents.com. Exemptions will only be granted if the jerseys will not have a significant impact on the effectiveness of officials, and will only be valid if the team name on the jerseys corresponds to the name the team is competing under and all players on the team are wearing the same jersey design.

The PSP rules will be amended as follows:
8.1.11.3: Deleted (footwear restriction)
8.6.3.2: Deleted (hopper restriction)

Add:
8.7.3. The color yellow is prohibited on any player equipment or clothing, except that a player’s jersey, pants, gloves or shoes may have yellow so long as no part of yellow coloring is more than 0.25 cm from some other color, and no more than 10% of any 5cm by 5cm square on clothing or item is yellow.
8.7.3.1. For reference purposes, ‘yellow’ is any color similar to Pantone colors 101, 102, 107, 108, 109, 116, 3945, 3955, 3965, and 803, although any head judge may prohibit any equipment they believe interferes with the judges’ ability to officiate effectively.
